TRADITIONAL & ELEGANT
Original and unique tastes, traditional dishes in a modern guise: our recipe for a truly inspiring culinary adventure.
WELCOME TO THE PALACE RESTAURANT!
In our respect for the past, the name of the restaurant honors the memory of the prestigious Palace Hotel. This Art Nouveau building, with a facade decorated with Zsolnay porcelain, is a special feature of Rácóczi Út, the route of business, culture, and tourism that links downtown with the railway station.
The restaurant, opened in 1911, dazzles the public with its gilt chandeliers, unique stucco ornamentation, and inlaid wood paneling. The stucco is the work of sculptor Manó Rákos, while the visually striking chandeliers and sconces are from the workshops of Ignác Goldstein.
The building has been declared a historic monument, and even today the restaurant shines in its original grandeur.
Thank you for visiting!
About the concept
When we started to form the idea of the Palace Restaurant, we wanted a design that would fit the 1911 building and also satisfy current expectations.
In this way the image of an old-new restaurant was formed, one that respects tradition while meeting the challenges of today's world. The result is a truly special regional Hungarian menu that is updated in its structure, content, and presentation. Dishes prepared tableside also appeared, and so did "Hungaricums" like mangalica pork, fruit syrup, soda water, pálinka, spritzers, and many other curiosities.
We have worked enthusiastically on every single element of the concept, and we trust that you will be interested in the result. We hope to welcome you as our guest to begin a real gastronomic journey in a historic setting.
